Why is Poland’s air quality so bad?

  1. Rapid economic development over the years, our most prevalent natural resource used to be coal (idk now), europe wide propaganda from putin about how bad nuclear power is ( “Green” activists paid off by a petrostate ironically)

  2. Maybe because some of you, for some reason that escapes my understanding, despite the gas being cheaper than in Germany keep burning plastic to get warmer on the winter like if this was post-war Chechnya

  3. Cause Elektrociepłownia Bełchatów emits more pollution than all of the active volcanoes combined?

  4. Everyone who travelled a lot usually confirms that although in big cities (cracow especially) air quality is noticebly worse, however in sub 100k cities and countryside (of which Poland mostly consists of) air quality is often much better than in the west. I’ve heard theories that this is because Poland has much more measuring stations (like 4x of that of what Germany has, don’t remember the exact numbers tho) and the stations are placed in places more likely to indicate worse quality like in middle of a city, while stations in the west are usually placed on the countryside.

Something is definetely off since these maps show bad air quality over some of the biggest forested areas still left in Europe.

  5. Because Poland is the LAST country in Europe where we still mine energetic coal(that hobby mine in Czech don’t count)

And last country where people burn said coal in their homes.
You can STILL buy new home coal funrnaces for NEW homes.

    And that is the secret.

  6. Because germans put their air quality sensors outside cities :-)))

  7. because the map doesn’t show anything east of poland

  8. Coal power. Plus, every time I’ve visited, people in the sticks still burned all their effing trash no matter what it was. Brutes.

  9. It’s all about the sensors. Poland has a lot of them and they are located in cities.

  10. This is our way to natural selection. Only the toughest survive.

  11. Coal power plants, old and inefficient furnaces in houses, old cars with catalytic converters removed, ineffective envirnomental regulations, heating by burning trash, developer arson…

  12. The air quality is good. You only have to chew it before you swallow.

  13. Sorry it’s me smoking, i had a bad day at work.
