  1. “A district court imposed reporting restrictions on his name earlier this week.

But those restrictions were lifted by Judge Alan Mitchell this afternoon, following an application by lawyers representing RTÉ and other media organisations.”

Fair play to the media for raising this, we can’t have double standards of reporting crime based on the “current climate”.

  4. His solicitor, Michael Kelleher, told the court that his client had been at a party and was intoxicated.

He described his client’s conduct as “extremely misguided, foolish horseplay by a drunk man” rather than anything more sinister.

    Edit:

“The court heard there was no connection between Mr Leela and the children”

  5. It’s at times like these I’m just glad vaping is banned.

  6. “The court heard Visak Rajesh Leela, who is a student from India, is in Ireland on a student visa and has an address in south Dublin.”

  7. I don’t know why but I’m inclined to think he was just messing around with the kids like you know when you pretend to take them for a min then put them back down but I guess you do that at weddings and the like when there’s relatives there seeing you are messing with them. This lad was a bit dim doing it if there were no one else to verify he was joking with the kids. But I guess he was drunk too.
    Ah who knows.
