‘I am deeply concerned’ – Burke brother claims he is being ‘shut out’ of barristers’ body

  1. There is no onus on any barrister to take him on, wouldn’t have any sympathy for him

  2. I’d actually be concerned about the standards of any barrister willing to take on this guy. Look at him crossways and he’ll be dragging the barrister through the courts in vexatious complaints for years.

  3. Shocking that a legal body would shun a family that have been a menace to the Irish legal system for years.

  4. Those parents have absolutely ruined their children’s lives.

  5. I wonder if he’s tried just going to the office anyway, even though he doesn’t work there, and just refusing to leave until someone takes out a restraining order… And then continuing to turn up anyway

  6. Leaving aside the antics of the rest of his family; Simeon Burke himself had to be dragged out of court for refusing to leave when asked. On what planet does he think that was appropriate conduct for someone studying, never mind practicing, law?

  7. I’m of two ways on this:

    1. The Burke family have brought these issues on themselves

    but

    2. No profession which is essential to the functioning of day to day life and receives the benefits of a State backed monopoly (albeit shared with with solicitors these days) should be allowed such a high level of self regulation and ability to shut people out for reasons other than ability.

  8. Divine rewards in the next life don’t pay the bills it seems

  9. It really is a good example of how someone can fuck up their life…

Obviously intelligent, well educated, worked hard through years of school, college etc, passing a series of exams, made it.

…then just threw it all away.

  10. Oh look if it is the consequences of my actions coming back to punch me in the nuts ..

  11. The Burke’s are clearly a bunch of oddballs, Enoch in particular. But what I find curious about the whole thing is: in a country where the 200+ conviction sorts roam the streets due to lack of space and small custodial sentences are consistently a case of attend the prison, sign your name and go home. The state always finds space to imprison Enoch for however long the judge has decreed.

  12. But he is different to the rest of the applicants. He is known well already and his behavior poses a risk to anyone who employs him. So why would anyone take the risk?

  13. For a family that supposedly, in their view, live this “good, god-fearing life” they are full of narcissism and arrogance.

They expect others to respect their tramelled and cruel views. Yet, at the same time, they are horrid and obtuse to anyone who doesn’t conform to their belief system.

They deliberately set themselves at odds with modern society and expect that society can cater to their extreme beliefs. It’s a complete strategy they’ve had for a considerable time.

Money and notoriety are at the head of that strategy. Always have been. Another vexatious claim on the way from that family.

  14. He can thank his family for that. I think the disdain guys family have down for the law of the land has consequences.

  15. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions.”

  16. Welcome to the real world where your actions have consequences.

  17. I wouldn’t hire someone that dresses exactly like their brothers/sisters/parents either.

  18. Now if only the media would do the same and theyd become utter irrelevants as exactly they should be

  19. Well Simeon, the dildo of consequence does not tend to arrive lubricated

  20. Oh I wonder why??? Maybe because you’re not able to leave your personal beliefs behind you when you interact with others!
