Pokrovsk’s fight intensifies as Russia captures more Ukrainian towns in Donetsk region

Russia has captured more towns in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, as it inches closer to the key strategic city of Pokrovsk. Battles there have been among the most intense of the war, though Moscow’s advance has reportedly slowed since Ukrainian troops crossed into Russia and seized Kursk. TRT World has been granted exclusive access to a key Ukrainian unit defending Pokrovsk. Our correspondent Joel Flynn has been talking to soldiers close to the front line, and has sent us this report.

  1. Almost 3 years and still russia cant defeat ukraine. 2nd stronget military in the world could not defeat ukraine in Kursk. What a shame!

  2. Russia is taking long to liberate the eastern provinces because, these eastern provinces account for 90% of ukraines economy … once Russia liberates these regions, ukraine will just be nothing.

  4. There is no victory for Ukraine, defeat is a forgone conclusion. While one has to admire the tenacity of the Ukrainian forces they are outnumbered and outgunned. This is just propaganda

  5. Fact check – Russia has not captured a town sInce Niu-York – which has now been partly retaken. Russia has, however, taken small settlements and villages which had been long evacated, the largest of which had once had a pre-war population of 390.

  6. Is it really true that the Animal shovels are that effective? All along we thought Western weapons were superior to the shovels but the facts on the ground don't support that theory
