5. On October 23, Niagara was illuminated in Hungarian national colors to commemorate the 1956 revolution.

   On the Canadian side, Consul General of Toronto Valér Palkovits turned on the lights responsible for illuminating the waterfall, and immediately after that, Sándor Balla painted the American side of the waterfall with the colors of our national flag.

   According to 24.hu, Valér Palkovits said that “on the day of our national holiday, we pay tribute to the heroes of 1956. This is how we remember our compatriots – more than thirty thousand – who were forced to leave their homeland after the defeat of the revolution and found a new home here in Canada”.

6. I find this really interesting because displays like these at Niagara Falls are essentially joint statements by the US and Canada.
