At a campaign rally in North Carolina, Republican White House candidate Donald Trump criticized U.S. financial aid to Ukraine, specifically targeting President Volodymyr Zelensky. “We continue to give billions to a man who refuses to make a deal,” Trump remarked, accusing Zelensky of taking advantage of U.S. support. He mockingly referred to the Ukrainian leader as “probably the greatest salesman on Earth,” claiming that every visit to the U.S. resulted in him securing $60 billion. Trump further criticized the state of Ukraine, stating, “The country is absolutely obliterated.” A potential meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the United Nations General Assembly in New York had been discussed but did not materialize.
