Russian ship stuck off UK coast has explosive power greater than Beirut blast

A damaged Russian cargo ship anchored off the UK coast poses a significat risk because of the “incredibly explosive” ammonium nitrate it is carrying, warns former CBRN commander Hamish De Bretton

  1. 0:09: Hamish De Bretton overestimates the explosive power of 20 kilotons of ammonium nitrate by a factor of about 4000

The ship is said to carry 20 kilotons of ammonium nitrate, which is equivalent (in explosive power) to 5 kilotons of TNT

  2. Russians have been threatening nukes for over 70s years. It's only young kids that take it seriously. Boomers laugh it off. Get a grip.

  3. Wht a load of bolocks!!!… can anyone tell me the day we decided as a democracy = BRITAIN!!!! = WE= were gonna play nuclear roulette with RUSSIA?? OFFICIALLY PPLZ

  4. It might have been helpful if those of us in this "danger"area had been told of this event, and given directions of what to do should this thing explode… According to this report, I live 3 miles from this danger, and there has been nothing given as a warning or advise…

  5. Oh, the newest experimental Russian submarine powered by ammonium nitrate wants to make a port call in the UK?!?

    🤣🤣🤣

  6. When I was young I went to the zoo the keeper said " DONT POKE THE BEAR ". I guess NATO never went to the Zoo.
DONT ALLOW LAMMY to speak to them once he opens his uneducated mouth we have all had it. If he speaks to them get on your knees and pray the man is a blagger a bufoon.

  7. Clueless interviewer and misspeaking interviewee!
IF this vessel is off Margate, it is about 35 (land) miles away from Dungeness as the crow / gull flies.
Why is the geography of Kent (next door to London FFS!) so mysterious to ministers (Raab for example) and the Mediarati???

  8. I think we are know that Putin is crazy as a junkyard dog. If pushed to surrender, he might use a nuclear weapon. I feel sorry for the people of Russia, who did not want this war, but was pushed into it by a megalomaniac. They are suffering.

  9. Actually 20,000 kilos of Ammonium Nitrate is not the equivalent to a 20 kiloton explosion. All explosives have different power ratings. TNT is the standard measurement/baseline that all others are compared to. So if it were 20,000 kilos of TNT or equivalent on the ship, it would then be 20 kilotons. But…Ammonium Nitrate in bulk storage/shipping configuration is “typically” about .25 TNT equivalent. Therefore it would be about 5 kilotons; still a very significant explosion. If you would like to get a better understanding just google TNT Equivalent.

  10. Isnt this the same commentator who was going on about how the great Ukrainian counter offensive of 2023 would sweep the damned Russkies away and how one Challenger 2 tank could beat the entire Russian Army.?

  11. A potential act of war? No rational and responsible country would have allowed such an unseaworthy ship to carry such dangerous cargo. No bailout of Putin after his reckless decision to invade. No more panic attacks by western media of Russian nuclear threats.
