Ukraine war: What would a Trump peace deal look like? | DW News

Ukraine’s president has held key talks with former US President Donald Trump – with the future of aid for Kyiv in question. Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Trump with his “victory plan” in New York in a bid to shore up support if Trump is reelected in November. Trump said he has good relationships with Zelenskyy and Russia’s President Putin. He insisted he could get a deal to end the war, while also saying the US is paying too much for Ukraine’s defense. Zelenskyy earlier met with Trump’s Democratic rival Kamala Harris, who said her support for Ukraine is “unwavering.”

  2. Ukraine gives up its current territory under Russian occupation, forgoes any NATO membership and a slap on the wrist for Russia. Most of Trump's foreign affairs deals either fails at the first step or he gets in the way of his own team.

  4. So Trump's solution for peace is 'What's in it for me?'. No withdrawal, no reparations, no prosecution for war crimes. Just money for Trump, the back door of the military industrial complex.

  9. This woman knows nothing..where did they get her from? She forgets trump might want peace to end the needless loss of life plus Ukraine can’t win! They had the opportunity to have peace with the Minsk agreement without loosing land! Russia is entitled to keep the land taken..firstly Donbas and lukansk had a referendum and decided to join Russia and secondly it's called the spoils of war! honestly this woman knows nothing its embarrassing

  12. Unless the west is prepared to directly intervene and fight for them ( which their not ) I see no way for Ukraine to defeat their much bigger neighbour. Time to hammer out a deal while Ukraine still has some kind of county left..

  14. Trump is a weakling. His strategy to conflicts is unconditional surrrender and move on. He did that in Syria and he did that in Afghanistan. Trump's peace plan for Ukraine is exactly the same as his middle-east peace plan when he was president. Side with the strong, bully the weak into acceptance to make the problem goes away. Unconditional surrender has always work for Trump. Watch him surrender again

  20. The US got a lot of dollars from vaccines, but Biden failed with war defeat, inflation, and recession. Hunter Biden received Chinese money, and Biden jeopardized American companies (semiconductors, electric cars, online) by easing Chinese technology regulations. He was an executive of a Ukrainian energy company, and as a result, Ukraine lost Crimea (Obama, Biden in 2014) and the eastern region (1 of 4 states, Biden in 2024). Hunter Biden of Huntergate (Chinese money, Ukrainian executive) should be arrested.

  33. No, the solution is going to be, russia leaves ukraine and ukraine cant join nato…however, there will be border guarantees where ukraine will retain their borders. As for donbass, how it is governed is for debate. This is a long shot which i dont think will happen….therefore it will evolve into a large conflict with u.s. and nato entering the war.
