Why would the in laws of a former FM not get preferential treatment? Surely someone high profile would be a higher risk?
Depends how much you want to read between the lines.
FCO didn’t say there was no request.
Humas Yousless didn’t say no one made a request, only he didn’t. Does his staff count as ‘me’?
This really is an especially nasty conspiracy theory.
Millions were being donated to the UNRWA at the same time the Scottish Government made its donation.
Now that has been twisted/ spun into Humza funnelling funds to Hamas.
More of an answer needs to be why his family ignored multiple warnings from his own government not to travel or visit that area and to leave long beforehand.
He put his own family at risk, ignoring all the warnings, then spent a bunch of time slagging off everyone involved in trying to get them out when they shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

This speaks to a wider issue we are facing at National level in our governments plural across the U.K. I as a Local Government Officer was issued with absolutely clear instructions if I accepted any gifts or preferential treatment of any kind in relation to my role I would be subject to disciplinary action. The outcome could be misconduct or gross misconduct depending on the amounts involved. The level started at £5 for a gift. These rules were insisted upon by politicians. The irony.
Depends on what you want to believe but it’s very clever wording.
There may not have been a request direct from humza (“made by me”) but there could have been a request made by his office. He’s just denying direct request making.
As usual the British press is full of complete horseshit and yet people keep lapping it up because they like the lies.
It is a good job HY was an honest politician who acted with integrity throughout his tenure and doesn’t have a track record of spurious claims or lying to cover his colleagues.
Otherwise one would be tempted to doubt his word in this also.
Especially given tge reported content of the Telegraph’s FOIs.
