Insanity.
I worked at a place where some managers did that. It stopped when a manager was outside an employees door when he took his own life.

It’s no surprise to me. I live in Berlin and I have met some workers from Tesla.
They mentioned how unfair U.S. government treats Leon, how Biden is terrible for U.S. economy and “their” company (Tesla). And how proud they are for working for someone as smart as Leon Musk. I got the feeling they were big executives but no.
Just some IT workers and middle managers. Their illusion of grandeur is weird and their cult is pathetic.
How much do you think the cost of these ‘managers’ with this much free time adds to each Tesla vehicle? Why would customers pay for this?
