  1. Someone brought up that the affected companies have a legal obligation to safe guard children, so what do you if a child has an e-scooter? NTA don’t think of everything…

  2. A better solution would be to ban the import of crap models and enforce safety regulations on models sold here.

  3. Was talking to a friend about this who works in the office in IR. She said that they get an incredible amount of complaints every day about bikes and scooters being a trip hazard and taking up space on the trains.

They sent a few surveyors out at one stage to take the train and report back and they reported that bikes and scooters were a hazard to other commuters. It wasn’t pc to ban bikes so they came up with a reason to ban scooters, but they will get to bikes as they do believe they are not popular at all with all commuters apart from the ones with the bikes of course.

I assume there were as many complaints from bus commuters also about scooters.

As far as I know there is a plan to hand out fines for people with bikes and scooters on the trains eventually, but generally now the trains are too packed during rush hour to have an inspector walking through them anyway.

I posted the unmasked picture on a post on its own I was sent now because people think it’s two people in the seats. So scroll up for the picture.
It’s in the accessible seat. How anyone could excuse someone putting a scooter there I don’t know. Anyway the person who sent it to me said they get hundreds of complaints a day like this from commuters about both scooters and bikes.

  4. Will it work as good as no bikes on DART in the morning and afternoon?

  5. I was on the Dublin to Cork train Saturday and had a man with crutches and slurred speech use a scooter with a seat attachment go up and down the carriages asking for money and blocking the pathway

The security didn’t seem too bothered when it was reported to them multiple times while they were onboard.
