Kamal can’t wrap head around Labour’s decision to axe winter fuel payments | The Daily T Podcast

On the final day of the Labour conference, party members gave the government a bloody nose by voting to oppose the winter fuel allowance cut. It won’t change anything, but Keir Starmer now has a party in open revolt against his leadership, with one union leader telling the crowd it’s ‘not what people voted for’ during a barnstorming speech.

Camilla and Kamal ask where Starmer’s already ailing government goes from here, with the Prime Minister also doubling down on accepting accommodation from Lord Alli in an interview last night; his excuse for which Camilla found “extraordinary”.

  1. Of course he can't, because he's a born and bred Tory who doesn't care at all for true poverty. These pensioners are not in poverty. Typical Telegraph. Typical Kamal.

  2. They’ve made it a test of machismo now “oh what would it look like if we u turned on this ?!” So pensioners fall through the cracks because of a new government’s need to look financially responsible

  3. That saving is going to be obliterated by the costs to NHS and social care due to the elderly ending up in hospital from cold related illnesses like pneumonia, hypothermia etc! Ridiculous policy.
