  1. >GB News is seeking to use the courts to stop regulator Ofcom from being able to carry out sanctions over breaches of the UK broadcasting code by the media group.

Do they seriously think that will work? Basically saying the rules (that are quite lax or constantly flouted) shouldn’t apply to them.

  2. Sounds like something a totally legit broadcaster would do

  3. GB News seeks court injunction to allow them to continue to spread lies and hate without consequences.

    FTFY

  4. So GB News guests have all week been peddling right-wing conspiracy theories about Starmer having a super injunction out to stop a scandalous story dropping in the media.

Turns out GB News were right, there is an injunction out… their own.

  5. Given how lax ofcom has been GB news is taking the piss.

However, given that GB news is a recruiting ground for voters for the “right” people, I’m sure they’ll get away with it again

  6. Beware of bots and trolls in this thread. I’m posting this again as I’m not sure if my reply to a comment earlier can be seen as the person I responded to has blocked me.

See my comment to user TimboWatts below. “Did troll/bot school not teach you to be less obvious?” TimboWatts blocked me after this comment. I can’t see his replies nor can I comment on his posts myself.

I suspect TimboWatts to be a professional troll rather than a disgruntled BBC user and told him so.
He’s a very new redditor. I suspect his ire at my comment is because his is an attempt at an influence campaign and may originate from the Defund the BBC group. Much of the trolling we see on all platforms is professional sponsored as well as state sponsored.

Note, Defund the BBC is run by anti-BBC campaigner Rebecca Ryan. She also ran StandUp4Brexit campaigning for a hard brexit.

She’s also Managing Director of political consultancy firm Blue Sky Strategy, which specialises in social media campaigning. Blue Sky Strategy had links to the climate change sceptical Net Zero Scrutiny Group, a parliamentary committee that was headed by Brexit Hard man Steve Baker.

Net Zero Scrutiny Group itself was linked, among others, to the right wing European Research Group, the Institute of Economic Affairs, and the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF), the UK’s most prominent climate science denial organisation.
