EU imposes huge fine on Hungary in dispute over asylum seekers | DW News

The European Union has begun the process of clawing back hundreds of millions of euros in funds meant to go to Hungary. The move comes now that Hungary has missed a deadline to pay a huge fine for breaking the EU’s asylum rules.

Now the EU plans to deduct the fine from the funds earmarked for Hungary in the bloc’s budget. The initial fine of 200 million euros is growing by one million euros every day Hungary has not paid up.

But Prime Minister Viktor Orban has insisted he will not back down from his position on refusing to accept asylum seekers.

  5. Well we have immigrants a lot of the here no worries. They do the stabig as well only in the worker houses or beat up native hungarian workers in out factories.
    Happened in Győr at a well known car maker 😀.

Hungary doesn’t want a Solingen Incident like in Germany, parts if cities being ruled by criminal Arab clans, calls for Sharia and a Kalifat, same in the UK, Mamchester bombings, kids being stabbed to death, and London overan by terrorists symphatisants. Same in France. Germany is now pulling the breaks and closed its border, Denmark, Sweden … same.

Lock borders around them-choke off economics. tRump praises him because after tRump fails in election (he knows he will lose) tRump wants to buy hotels in eastern Europe. Expect hotels in those countries. He is currying favor with Orban.

  31. I'm Hungarian and you did not give justice to this discussion. It is not about accepting or denying asylum seekers. It is about the lack of accepting or denying them. Basically it is about the lack of rule of law.

  32. The EU coronies refuse to see the violence associated with illeagal immigration and act accordingly that are effecting the population of the European countries.
    The institution is supposed to look after the people of member countries no ignore them.
    Replace the lot of them and start again with something better if possible it seems they are pandering to something or someone.

    Yes,Hungary should leave the EU. The fine is illegal and Hungary is the only country who was fined. This is just which hunt. The EU is a dictatorship
