Europe: Helping Russia’s Ukraine Invasion by Skirting Sanctions

Despite thousands of sanctions, Russia’s war machine keeps chugging on – and with European help.

From oil to metals, Russia is still making billions of euros from exports of its raw materials to Europe, despite the Europeans being counted as Ukraine’s closest allies.

In some instances, like steel slabs, sanctions intended to curb Russian aggression are even being loosened.

Meanwhile, the Americans, whose sanctions seem to be more effective, are showing signs that they’re disinclined to bear an uneven burden.

  1. Please stop writing "Europe". Europe is many individual countries and some countries does not participate in such immoral exports. Buying certain raw materials from Russia can be necessary but exporting material to Russia that can be used for war is immoral.

  2. ABOUT TIME THE EU STARTED PAYING ITS OWN WAY INSTED OF ALWAYS HAVING THERE HAND OUT FOR MORE MONEY FROM AMERICA. SOM OF TYHE EU. COUNTRIES WHERE PAYING NOTHING UNTILL TRUMP GOT THEM OFF THERE ASS. NOW THERE ALL PAYING SOMTHING

  3. You are blasting Hungary 🇭🇺 for buying Russian oil 🛢 and you give Ukraine 🇺🇦 a pass for dissolving ethnic Hungarian schools 🏫… including those that were recently built with money 💰 sent by Hungary 🇭🇺… let me tell you, Ukraine 🇺🇦 is not as innocent as they want to appear 🙄

  4. I am sick and tired of governments trying to tell me what I can and can't do as an individual. I want to deal with Russia I like Russia I like Russian government and Russian companies sell products that I can only get from there but now of course I can't buy them because my government says so. Governments are supposed to represent the people not be 'leaders'. If people don't want to buy Russian goods then simply don't buy Russian goods. But don't take away other people's right to buy Russian goods. Israel has an ongoing genocide that's been condemned by almost every nation but you don't see any sanctions on them no in fact you have laws being made to prevent people from sanctioning them

  5. Great report Kyiv Post! I think this is a good start on reporting about sanctions evading and only the 'tip of the iceberg'

  6. Thank you for the detailed report on sanctions and how they haven’t worked the way they should have. We in the US could help more with this, however, our political system is going through some big struggles of its own. Many on the far right are siding with Russia and listening to the propaganda it’s pushing. Hopefully in November those of us still using logic and reason will stop this nonsense and get back to functioning like a republic and working better with our allies.
    🇺🇦💙💛

  7. ANY ruZZian products being imported to Europe should have ALL FUNDS PAID into the sequestered Ruzzian Assets Fund held by Belgium. NO FUNDS SHOULD BE PAID that bypasses Any sanctions.
