  1. I know there are factors at play like things being reported on more and hot topics. But can anyone explain to me why there seems to be an increasing number of people turning on people due to X Y Z that has zero impact on the others life?

I know it has been going on as long as time but I’m starting to notice people being more opinionated on other people’s lives than before.

I can’t tell if I’m just falling for the over reporting (or correctly reported) or if people are just becoming more self important and taking a my way or the high way approach

  2. > But over the year ending March 2024 there were 3,282 religious hate crimes targeting Jews

This equates to roughly one hate crime per every 90 Jews. Mental.

  3. >Danielle St James, chief executive of trans charity Not A Phase, told the BBC that trans people are often reluctant to report hate crimes.

    >She said: “After many years in which hate crimes against trans people have soared, the news that these are down by 2% is certainly welcome. That being said, we know all too well that there is a reluctance to report these crimes on the part of the community, so it’s always worth taking stats such as these with a pinch of salt.”

Headline aside, am I the only one surprised by the BBC reaching out to an actual trans charity and ask about hate crime against trans people? In recent years they have been platforming TERFS so much that I thought it’s never possible again.

  4. I love this, once again redditors will bend over backwards to show how tolerant and progressive that are against da evwil fwar wight, and let muslims absolutely ramp up crime stats

  5. As I said the other day if you need to believe in someone, go Agnostic, stuffs so much simpler.

  6. Thankfully this sub isn’t contributing to that at all.

  7. I’m just a bald guy with a massive beard.

This summer a few women were walking on the other side of the road to me and they shouted “‘Ere mate are you a fuckin’ JEW?!”

so I responded “No… why would you think that?”

“Well you’ve got that fuckin beard havent yer!?”

and I said “Wouldn’t I be wearing that little cap, the kippah, if I were a jew?”

To which they responded “I DUNNO IM NOT A FUCKIN JEW AM I, YOU A FUCKING JEW?!”

They didn’t seem too pleased by the idea that I may have been a Jew.

  8. By “religious hatred” its mainly Muslims and neo-Nazi wannabes attacking Jews with the excuse “B-But Israel”. Pathetic.

  9. I still remember when people used to say that this is not a religious war, etc.

Just go to the protests and see with your eyes what many activist say. Some of them even say they will destroy the UK, or that the UK belongs to them because it was promised by their god. Sometimes you hear that they must slain every jew in order to bring peace to the world….

Terrible state of affairs we’re in

  10. Everyone talks about hate crime against religion, but nobody ever talks about hate crime cause by religion, people who leave Islam often experience hatred, discrimination and threats, but nobody gives a damn.

  11. What actually constitutes as a religious hate crime?

I mean if I say the Bible is just a made up book written to scare kids and gullible people is that a religious hate crime?

If I say that the creation Israel is the primary cause of all the issues in the Middle East since WW2 (playing devil’s advocate here) is that a religious hate crime?

If I say that the teachings of the Koran are outdated and have no place in modern society is that a religious hate crime?

If somebody sprays “Free Palestine” on a wall across the road from a Synagogue is that a religious hate crime

Where I live there is a church which is out of the way in a field. It was set on fire by a person who had a history of mental health issues.

Would this be a religious hate crime?

Who decides what is and isn’t a religious hate crime?

I’m not being funny, I’m genuinely asking as without that information it is near impossible to make any kind of judgement about this statement.

  12. Would these be those same religions that have hate **baked in** to their core texts and beliefs?

They are all fundamentally sexist, homophobic and just generally “*my people are better than your people*” through and through.

    >Religious hate crime at record high, figures show

Most of the spike in these numbers is religion A vs religion B anyway. It’s not like outsiders/non-religious people are picking on the religious. They are just going after each other.
