Germany’s Scholz promises Zelenskyy 1.4 billion euros more military aid | DW News

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin for talks on securing support for Kyiv’s “victory plan” to end the war.

Scholz announced a €1.4 billion ($1.53 billion) military aid package by the end of 2024.

“We need to think about next year, and to think about keeping up the level of support,” Zelenskyy said.

The packed, with support from Belgium, Denmark and Norway, includes more air defense systems, self-propelled Gepard anti-aircraft guns, tanks, armored vehicles, combat drones, artillery ammunition and radar.

Scholz added a comprehensive military support package worth €600 million euros had been recently delivered to Ukraine.

He told a press conference alongside Zelenskyy that Germany would not allow “Russia to dictate terms of peace.”

However, both leaders said they wanted to achieve a “just peace” for Ukraine, and indicated a desire for talks with Russia, something neither country has often said since Russia invaded in early 2022.

Zelenskyy’s stop in Berlin comes after he met with European leaders in London, Paris and Rome on Thursday.

  17. In return, Germany received some bills back from Washington. Scholz conveys the message to his people to remember the war by working harder and giving to Zelensky.

  18. At least Germany still have money to give to Zelensky. There is still the Ukraine's rebuilding bill coming in Germany's way.

  39. 1st plan of win of Ukraine was called "Zelenskys Peace formula", and wanted to expell all russian from all territory and from Crimea. It did not work. Now Zelenskys 2nd Victroy plan in BERLIN (oh yes Berlin was "victorious" once already) wants to prolong war, rejects Trumps peace proposal, and asks for more money and guns. This plan will prolong suffering and Ukraine will lose more territory. This is all the plan of Zelensky. Prolong war and lose more territory and lose more ukrainian soldiers and more suffering for DOLLARS
