I hope that’s not the case, wishing a healthy recovery
That sounds quite horrible. I really don’t think many people expect Alaba to return and be in a condition to regularily play for us, but reading this, it might be best to just quit the football so he doesn’t end up crippled for the rest of his life.
It already sounds like he will be in a lot of pain when he is old.
That would be a shame. He’s clearly not at the level he once was but his leadership skills at the back are invaluable.
Pain
If its that painful, the best for him is to just retire, he has already had a good career and he might need rest.
Hope he will be wise and stop there, he has a long life ahead of him and he will suffer from a lot of pain if he keeps going

Hate this for Alaba, but sometimes your body just doesn’t want to do what you need it to do. This means we 100% need to sign a CB come January though. There are no more excuses
I believe the prediction was Alaba would return in January. So the pains during initial return to training is expected during his recovery. ACL injuries used to take 2 years to heal. With today’s treatments the duration was shortened to 18 months. If Alaba needs more time for recovery. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took 24 months to heal before he could play again. Since that was the old timeline for ACL.
He’s done, and Carvajal is pretty much done too.
This “we’re waiting for Alaba” was the excuse the board used to justify going into a 70+ matches season with 2 CB’s. Dont fool yourself, Vallejo doesnt count and Tchouameni is still learning the ropes.
They knew, there were rumours from long ago about Alaba’s recovery being complicated, with several delays and bad news. And the board still refused to make a decent offer for Yoro, or try signing an alternative. Even a loan would’ve been better than this complete disaster.
To make things worse, our best CB prospect gets injured too.
And now we’re stuck with Militao, Rudiger and Tchouameni for the season. With Militao having to cover for Lord Vázque at RB, and Tchouameni for Camavinga as DM.
The fact that we got away with poor planning in previous seasons doesnt mean our luck would last forever. We had Joselu, Rodrygo and Nacho last season. Now we literally dont have ANYONE for the position, on top of a coach that would rather put Endrick as CB than playing a Castilla player.
We’re utterly fucked and dont tell me Florentino knows better, please. Im old enough to have witnessed all of his fuckups since he became president the first time.
His not the God Emperor of Real Madrid sitting on the White Throne, he’s human and can fuck up. And he did.
Only a miracle in the shape of Jacobo Ramón and/or Fortea being top players will save us. Or a complete injury free season.
Edit: small mistake
He really is in Spain but the S is silent.
I was arguing with someone on this sub about Alaba and they said we could rely on him. The guys career done
All the more reason we needed CB depth. Lots of people here had him penciled in as a militao recovery candidate.
There are never any guarantees with major surgeries when the demand on your body is to represent the best club and play at the highest level of your sport.
Dang how old is Alaba?! Gonna raise my chair in anger
Reduced cartilage is no joke, he should retire and focus on getting the right treatment so he doesnt carry any long term damage from it.
3 ACL injuries and getting everyone back at 100% was not probable but it’s still sad.
“Bones rub against each other” would really cut the deal for me and force me into retirement. That sounds like the worst case scenario for Alaba.
I remember 2 seasons ago, him and Militao had perfect understanding – youth and experience. Eder’s energy was not wasted when Alaba was giving instructions
Everyone says he should retire. But experience tells me that these guys will absolutely do anything to get back on the pitch. Unless the doctor says you go back there you will die. Then they start caring about things. But until then…
i keep forgetting he’s a RM player, hope he gets better to just live his life .. he’s already outta RM
I seriously doubted he would ever play at an elite level again when the injury occurred due to the multiple injuries in the knee and his age. I also don’t believe DC will ever play again at an elite level due to his extensive knee damage (2 ligaments and a tendon) and his age. I hope both are able to recover to live normal lives without lasting impacts from the injuries.
