No party will ever compare to my 7th birthday party at McDonald’s in 1996

  1. And they show you around the kitchen and refrigerator area and pretend to lock you in the walk in freezer thing. Good times.

  2. A couple of hours ago I popped into a new McDonald’s that opened in the past few weeks – it was so sterile and dull I found it legitimately demoralizing and depressing and decided against eating in. No personality whatsoever, just plain walls and muted colours everywhere. No music or noise, just silence other than the shuffling of people waiting for their order and the occasional number being shouted out.

  3. Same age and probably had a McDonald’s party the same year. I miss pre-grey depressed era McDonald’s

  4. I miss the Burger King parties from the 90’s. The chicken nuggets back then where absolutely beautiful.

  5. So pleased for you… my granddaughter is having a halloween party at home this year with her little school friends because her mum thought it would be fun… memories get built like this!

  6. 1996 was a really fucking good year. I can’t really remember anything that happened, I just remember it was pretty much peak life.

  7. That background rings a bell! Never twigged that they are chicken nuggets in the spaceship.

Being invited to a birthday party with McDonalds was the best!

  8. Those poor baby nuggets in their spaceship. Little do they know.

  9. I always wondered what Sinead O’Connor was singing about

  10. Oh my words.
My grandparents never let me go to McDonald’s, because it ‘wasn’t real food’. Then my friend had a birthday party (for me it was 1996), oh and it was so magical

  11. I remember going to a friend’s McDonald’s birthday party that year and they had a ball pit area in the back. It felt amazing to go to this secret area that you normally wouldn’t see. We all got Space Jam toys. It was the Daffy Duck one. I asked my mum to buy me a Happy Meal after the party because I wanted another toy as well. She told me I’d only get the same way if we got it at the same McDonald’s on the same day. I insisted it would be a different one.

    I should’ve listen to her.

  12. I think I had my 7th or 8th at our local McDonald’s. I’d been to a mate’s who had Ronald Mcdonald there and we had to shout for him to come out. I shouted for him but he never came. I remember being gutted.

  13. I’m sure there was one party I went to that had a train that we sat in and a member of staff would come out and look after the party. Can’t see that happening now.

  14. The slow realisation that 1996 was nearly 30 years ago.
