  1. What's with all the perceived luster regarding Barcelona? I don't get it. It's a pseudo concrete jungle with some legacy historical landmarks. Why would anyone waste money and fly across the Atlantic just immerse yourself in a stampede of selfie obsessed tourists?

  2. People just dont go to Soain anymore when your not welcome. There are so many other and friendlier destinations

  3. Barcelona is hot now but fads are fickle. Be careful of what you wish for. All these upgrades are because of tourism. Mexico is another alternative. They dont really complain about tourism.

  4. This does mean that if you protest about it you then can't visit any 'tourist cities' yourselves. So no to Paris, Rome, London, New York……….

  5. As an local in country which is suffering from over tourism i'll just say… Tourism is the becoming the Cancer of modern society for affected Countries. We can't buy houses, eating out became way too expensive, and even take a relaxed walk anywhere became impossible, and guess what, before Tourism we could. Tourism also, mostly just benefits the big Hotel chains and some restaurants.

  6. You can't stop living in a butterfly place that everyone with money go lol you have better luck fitting against evolution least that is debatable

  7. Greed, greed and greed. We have utter tossers in government who don't know how to cap tourism with sustainable numbers.

  8. Every one loves over tourism Govt hotel restaurant industry ppl employed in tourism, ppl who invest in real estate there.
But but … When u r working class local living there with your family then it is difficult.
Tourists often mistake local women as prostitutes and offend them by asking " how much".
Food rent become expensive for 90% of total population of that area. More litter on streets, more criminals prostitution, more drugs, more pickpockets. Streets, busses, trains become flooded with foreigners. Ppl started feel suffocation. Not to mention rise of pollution in that area too.

  9. Yes they were begging for tourists and cruise passengers during the pandemic, I’ll bet all their multitudes of pick pockets almost starved, well if you don’t want tourists we for a start will avoid you!

  10. Let’s all just stop visiting. Other than a quick look see at that church they can’t seem to finish (like NYC’s Gowanus), it’s kind of a boring regular European city. Stay in the US. Go hike the Grand Tetons. Now that trip would be truly breath taking. There’s no Zara nor Starbucks in the Grand Canyon.

  11. You would think tourism would be a good thing for any city 🤷🏻‍♀️
(Barcelona looks very nice, unfortunately I have never had the privilege to visit, I don't know much about this city)

  12. Want to decongest Barcelona? Make flights going there fewer and more expensive, and make flights to other locations that need more tourists more affordable. It's all about access.
