Evgenia Volgina says Russia’s war won’t end with Ukraine

  1. Russia's narrative constantly changes. First it was about denazification. Then it was about protecting Russia from a NATO expansion and an impending attack by Ukraine, followed by Putin's claim about Peter the Great and how Ukraine belongs to Russia, then nazi's again, then some bizzare reasoning that Russia's past agreements are not valid because Gorbachev's and Yelsins agreements shortchanged Russia, and now Russia claims to be doing this because of a "multipolar world".

The problem with the multipolar world theory is that the world was never anything but a multipolar world. While the US was powerful since the breakup of the USSR, it was never powerful enough to engage in any serious conflict without a huge detriment to itself. Afghanistan was a disaster and Iraq, was at best, a pyrrific victory, helping in large part, to the unsustainable debt the US has today.

Secondly, Russia, a former "republic" of the USSR, with no valid claims to the other "republics", was expanding and empire building before the US wars. Dagestan and Chechnya were seperate republics upon the breakup the USSR, with Russia fighting two seperate wars against the latter to put it under Russian control. Belarus, headed by Kremlin-backed Lukashenko since 1994, essentially became a Russian puppet state in 2000 when Vladimir Putin became Chairman of the Supreme State Council
of the Union State of Russia/Belarus.

Im 2008, Putin, made a speech in Europe against a unipolar world. This was merely a rationalized cover for Russian expansion. While US foriegn policy can be criiticized, it cannot be said that the US participated in outright expansion in the modern era.

From 2000 to 2008, the year Russia made its speech, the Kremlin was busy poisoning the.pro-western Ukranian canidate in 2004 and shelling and expanding in Georgia.

The first invasion of Ukraine in 2014, was just another phase of Russian expansion. While Ukraine certainly wasnt prepared, Russia was not prepared to occupy the entirety of Ukraine at that time. Its likely that the Russians followed the Georgian model and that can be seen that with the Minsk agreements. Take part of the country, and make said country sign agreements to cede soveriegnty under the threat of force, relying on said fear. Russiky mir, was invoked by Putin with these annexations, and the Ukranians were expected to fall in line.

In 2022, Russia moved to take the entirety of Ukraine, after the FSB agents in charge of assessing Ukraime, told the Russian government Ukraime would fold under a large show of force. That didnt happen as we know.

Russia constantly lies and redirects. The government in Russia is comprised of the bitter losers of the cold war with a giant chip on their shoulder. These peope have always hated the West.

This isnt simply a war of the Russians vs Ukraine. This is part of Russia's two-pronged attack against the West, via an economic war. Concurrently, Russia made an attempt to subdue Europe though the leverage of Russian gas.

The first economic prong is BRICS, which as a trading bloc didnt destroy the Euro or dollar as hoped. The second prong is based upon a theory that greater resource consolidation, aka a commodity war, can overthrow the dollar and Euro especially when said countries are wreckless with monetary and fiscal policies. Putin has written and talked extensively about the need for Russia to leverage resources.

This war is not simply one of Russian expansion of Ukraine for the simple reasom of expansion. This is an economic war against the West. If the West doesnt wake up, Ukraine wont be the the only coumtry to lose.

  2. A ‘special military operation’ that has resulted in Ukraine controlling part of Russia for a while. Seems like Putin has Russians under his heel so much that not even that embarrassing situation is enough for them to replace him.

  3. Churchill had suggested the plan to conquer Russia at the end of the Second World War. What an insight that man had, it had to happen.

  4. She is deluded. The russian circus has no power other than some rusty soviet malfunctioning nuclear warheads.

  5. Their economy cannot handle this war – are they really dreaming? The was with NATO wilk terminate them. But seems like they are asking for it.

  6. The Russian people are allowing themselves to drift ever closer into a North Korea like servitude to the state.

  7. Fantasy thinking
It is like Hitler's bunker in April 1944 : when FDR died Hitler said,
"Now they will ask us for peace"
It is fantasy bunker mentality – that is all over the Kremlin

  8. They lost the Cold War in 1990 and are still but hurt about it.
34 years later, they haven't get over it.
Worst of all, they still believe war are won by the number of soldiers not by the strongest economy.
Russia is fighting Ukraine that has the American and EU economy backing them up.
Russia economy has no chance against EU and USA economy.
They lost the Cold War, they are losing the war in Ukraine and they just can't cope with that.

  10. Just look at the Russian/Soviet history: there was an armed conflict inside or outside its boarders every 5-8 years caused by imperialistic ruZZians!
Is this the hegemony world is looking for?

  11. Hello Evgenia–you wonder how the Special Military Operation will end. I will help you figure out the answer to that question. The Special Military Operation will end with the destruction of the Russian military, the ignominious death of Vladimir Putin, the destruction of the tyranny of lies that enslaves the Russian People, the overthrow of Alexander Lukashenko, the addition of Ukraine to NATO, and the building of a powerful alliance to confront and defeat China in the Pacific. How do you like them apples you tyrant enabling scumbag? As for the notion that Russia can take on the collective West, or even the United States alone: F*ck around and find out. It will not end well for you–no not at all.

  12. Representatives of a country whose GDP is comparable to that of the Nordic countries, but with a significantly larger territory to take care of and a considerably larger population to share this GDP, say this. It is conceivable that Russia could force the emergence of a multipolar world, which will come about in any case, but Russia will not be one of the countries that shares the power. It will be the USA, China, maybe the EU, if European politicians and populations can get their act together, and maybe India. I think China is quite satisfied that its vassal state is fighting this battle for them — probably not what the Russian population had hoped for. Putin doesn't care, as long as he stays in power and avoids the firing squad.

  13. Well, at least they realize the importance of secondary sanctions. What they don't realize is that Russia had the same resources before the invasion of Crimea, yet it never achieved that economic prosperity and worldwide trade. Until they have the courage to recognize this failure and address the underlying causes, Russia will continue to be a barbaric third-world country.

  14. There should be some database kept of these people, so we never forget what they said and make sure they won't get a visa to the west even 15 years later when they want to visit some civilised country for a change.

  15. Why are Russians not liked in the majority of the world? Only in some autocrats parts? It is because of this state of their mind. No selfreflection whatsoever. Ask the Balts how fond they are and were of Russians and their Gulags. They simply can’t see their role as only a petrol station in the world, no initiating or leading abilities, only corrupt abilities.

  16. ♥Frank Fukuyama was very insightful and I am sure there are many in Russia who would have preferred money and peace over Putin's idiotic foreign adventure. So far China prefers the money and I hope it stays that way.♥♥♥

  17. Why is it that the Russian mindset is obsessed with conflict and violence? It could have been a great modern country benefiting all its citizens. Instead it is a paranoid, diminished and isolated pariah.

  18. Russia cries out in pain as it strikes you.
    Multipolar world?
Invent something! Create something! Build something!
Russia would have fallen a long time ago had it not been for the "collective west"… Were EVEN Germany offered Russia to team up and take apart the British Empire and there was not and would not have been an Americaan superpower to speak of.

You just can't be friends with Russia.

  19. Culprit: Russia had all the time in the world to become a thriving economic and country, yet all Putin did was to sell as much of his peoples natural resources for his and his friends own profit.

So, the root cause why Russia is suffering is more than obvious and as long as this won‘t be understood and changed by the Russian population, the hardship will continue.

Visit rural Russia and talk to the people there about perspective in life, then you will understand how bad things really are.

Winds of change dear Russians, but vulgar display of power and brut force won‘t solve any issues inside Russia.

    Good luck

  20. these russian talkingheads have an uncanny ability to bloviate forever without saying anything.
symptom of living in a totalitarian society. gotta watch your every word.

  21. "Become a nation that trades with everyone". Honey, you are in the most sanctioned country in HISTORY. That is the opposite of "trading with everyone". You can't attack half the planet and then expect friendly trade.

  22. Just a matter of time. 3 days is 3 years. We are defending ourselves by war crimes and by stealing the FOREIGN territory. Cause that's justice and very VERY friendly. I am only thankfull to Russia for the fact that it pushed EU to finally go with the creation of the EU army. Thanks for that.

  23. Ridiculous. Ukraine left Russia exactaly by the fact that they lack trade capacity to hold neighboors in their sphere of influence. They have a corrupt and inneficient economy but conveniently blame others instead of improve themselves.

  24. Having read PRAVDA last 15 years, what is happening now could have been foreseen a long time ago. PRAVDA articles full of vengence towards the West and a mix of pathologic grandiosity and self-pity……😅

  25. They engaged Ukraine thinking it would be an instant win with no consequences, turned out to be wrong, and now call their actions "political courage" 😂
