Climate change is making glaciers melt in Norway. According to archeologist Julian Post Melbye, there’s one good thing to come out of this: The melting ice allows him and his colleagues to understand the country’s ecological past.

  1. If they're finding artifacts at the bottom of the glacier, doesn't that mean that there is a possibility that those same artifacts were on bare ground way back then??

  2. It will be interesting to discover new evidence of humans thriving in areas uninhabited for almost 2000 years.

  3. This keeps popping up in Norwegian mainstream news a lot as these finds are getting more and more common – and the more people know about this, the easier it becomes to share finds.

I would love for DW to get some advice on pronunciation, though, every report from Norway slaughters names and places so it's really hard to understand what you're saying.

  4. I'm thinking Chinese satellite lasers might be assisting that melting, like a lower budget James Bond movie. Not sure if there's a mini me involved.

  5. I found a stick laying in the sand once when i
was walking along the beach . Then i realized the stick
7 thousand years old and was most likely used by an ancient
California indian tribe called the Clovis people.

  6. We know that the Neolithic settlement sites in the Orkneys were quite a few degrees warmer than today so this part of Norway would also have been warmer. Not sure why people are worried about these climate cycles.

  7. The coming US election is important for our planet.
Please do the right thing for the future of our common home.

  8. There were prehistorical sapians species before ice age, they made tools and use fire, they hunt together and sew their leather clothes.

  9. So Why was the Planet , Hotter 5,000 years ago , and why did not we all Die Off !
And who Saved The Planet back ?
Did they go Carbon Neutral ?

  10. The real irony is the fact that Mother Earth has undergone massive climate changes for millions of years, changes that make what we are facing now seem like child's play.
We may (or may not) be instrumental in causing the current changes but, when all is said and done, we are just along for the ride. Just about the only certainty we face now is the fact that whatever our influence on the current changes can NOT be changed by us – we are too greedy and superficial to be able to undo our actions.
