With the 2024 US Presidential election approaching, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are intensifying their efforts to sway undecided voters, especially in swing states. Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for the US presidency, focused her efforts on attracting moderate voters in three key swing states on Monday. Meanwhile, Donald Trump criticized the government’s handling of Hurricane Helene during his visit to the hard-hit state of North Carolina.

With the Election Day just over two weeks away, both the Democratic vice president and her Republican rival are campaigning intensively through the crucial battleground states that will determine the winner in what polls indicate is a tight race.

Harris was joined by Liz Cheney, a well-known Republican, in Pennsylvania on Monday. Cheney urged undecided voters “to reject the kind of vile vitriol that we’ve seen from Donald Trump.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump stirred controversy during an interview on the PBD Podcast, where he blamed Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky for Russia’s invasion. Trump’s comments were seen as a criticism of Ukraine’s handling of the war, though his campaign later clarified he was referring to President Joe Biden’s approach. Trump also touched on familiar themes of immigration, the economy, and US media grievances while continuing to downplay his role in the January 6 insurrection, calling it a “day of love.”

Billionaire Elon Musk has taken an increasingly active role in Trump’s campaign, launching a series of town hall events in Pennsylvania. Musk emphasised the importance of the election, framing it as pivotal for the future of America and Western civilisation. Both campaigns are pushing for early voting as the race tightens in the final stretch.
