Addis Ababa, October 22/2024 (ENA) Ethiopia and the Czech Republic held a bilateral discussion on new areas of development collaboration, according to the Ministry of Finance.
At the discussion, Ethiopia’s Finance State Minister Semereta Sewasew highlighted that the previous framework has been instrumental in creating employment opportunities for youth and promoting fruit value chains in the southern regions of Ethiopia.
The state minister stated that the assistance provided in building capacity in water and land management, nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation practices has yielded significant results through knowledge transfer and support for public systems.
Director for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance of Czech Republic, Petr Gandalovič on his part outlined the Czech Republic’s commitment to deepening ties.
The forthcoming MoU (2025-2030) would focus on three key areas: namely agriculture and rural development, public administration and civil society, and inclusive social development, Gandalovič added.
The bilateral discussion was also attended by Miloslav Kosek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, and Zdeňka Šubrová, Deputy Director of the Department of Africa from the Czech Republic, agreed to finalize and sign the new MoU during the upcoming official visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, which is anticipated to take place in early December.
