It has been revealed that a total 96 songs have been submitted to the Latvian national selection, Supernova 2025.

Latvian broadcaster, LTV, has revealed that a total of 96 songs have been submitted to Supernova 2026. This is 12 songs less than the 2024 edition of the competition.

Agnese Kubliņa, Head of the Entertainment and Documentary Content Editorial Department of LTV, commented:

Although the number of applications has not increased, the competition promises to be splendid and fierce. There is a wide spectrum of talent among the participants, representing various music genres – from already known names to brand new talents.

The show promises to be a real musical adventure! In addition, this year there are more surprises than ever before, proving that the Eurovision Song Contest is a unique opportunity to appeal to a huge audience around the world!

A jury selected by LTV, composed of Latvian music experts and foreign professionals, will select the songs for the next rounds of Supernova, which will be televised live in February 2025. The jury will evaluate the originality of the songs, the arrangement, the message, compliance with the modern market trends, as well as the vocal skills, personality and potential of the performers in international pop music.

Latvia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000, being the last of the Baltic nations to join the contest. On their debut, Brainstorm finished in 3rd place with the song “My Star”. Latvia won the contest for the first and only time in 2002, with Marie N’s “I Wanna”. Latvia only participated in 2002 thanks to the withdrawal of Portugal from the contest, as Latvia’s poor result in 2001 had relegated them from the 2002 contest. Latvia struggled in the contest after 2002, failing to qualify for the final for six years between 2009 and 2014. After a non-qualification streak that lasted 7 years, Latvia eventually qualified in 2024 with Dons and “Hollow”.
