ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4)—On Thursday, St. Louis County took steps to address climate change and become more resilient to extreme weather.
County Executive Sam Page celebrated the passing of a bill to create a climate action plan for the county. Dr. Page said he wants to protect the county’s workforce from the impact of extreme weather events.
The bill is in partnership with the Youth Advisory Council, which said climate change is a pressing issue for them.
According to the county, St. Louis County’s Department of Planning will lead the effort to create a climate action plan. The ultimate goal will be to help the county be more resistant to extreme weather, though the actions that could be are unclear.
The plan won’t cost taxpayers any money and will be funded by the NFL settlement.
