Inflation Busters Lidl – would 76 euro feed a family of 4 for a week?

  1. One slice pan for a week with 4 people? One pack of sliced ham? A single bottle of OJ? 3 ltrs of milk? For 4??

This doesn’t actually seem properly balanced across a week of needs

  2. Very little bread and milk also most dinners seem to be processed dinners, like the steak and kidney pies, ths southern fried chicken.

You can get a pound of steak mince in the local butchers for €6.

  3. That is a pathetically small amount of food for 76 quid and it’s tragic that lidl are bragging about that meager pile costing that much. You’d have gotten all that for less than 50 not long ago

  4. As someone who’s vacationing here from Canada, the grocery prices here are great even after conversion.

And Lidl offers like 10€ off if you spend 50€ is insane, never see anything like that back home.

The most we have to look forward to is PC Optimum points where you get 10 dollars back after spending like 1000 dollars lol

Edit: it’s Dunnes that hooks it up

  5. Us four it’s double the amount without any alcohol. If we wanted to do 70€ shop it would probably be a lot of very simple food, like noodles with mince and tomato sauce.

  6. That might be stretching it a bit depending on the needs of the family and how much fresh food you could buy.

Alternatively, that would buy you a massive amount of doughnuts and maple pecan twists…

  7. We spend €50/€60 in Dunnes, another €20 in Lidl and then €15/€20 in the ethnic shop… and that’s for two We do eat well, and that’s breakfast and lunches too but i can’t see how lidls offer can adequately feed people

  8. Where are they going with the pork mince to make shepherds pie? Never heard of pork being used, its lamb mince for shepherds pie or beef mince for cottage pie. I bet they put in pork mince becasue its about half the price of lamb mince, cheaters!

  9. I’m fortunate enough not to have to count the pennies – though I was raised in a household that did… so when I saw this Barnardos headline the other day about the cost of living and parents choosing between utilities and food… I just couldn’t understand why – when you can easily feed a large family on staple foods in this country (thankfully). Maybe more households need help to learn how to buy food and cook it better?
