SALINE CO., Mo. (KCTV) – A driver was seriously injured after he was thrown from his vehicle during a rollover collision while his 9-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 65 and Missouri 127, about a mile and a half west of Malta Bend, with reports of a single-vehicle collision.
When first responders arrived, they said they found Zachary R. Womack, 47, of Gilliam, was driving his 2014 Kia Rio north on the highway when he veered off the road to the right. He then overcorrected which caused the vehicle to run off the left side of the road where it flipped several times.
State Troopers noted that Womack was thrown from the vehicle during the collision. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time, however, his 9-year-old passenger was.
Emergency crews said Womack and the child were both taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital – Womack with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the child with suspected minor injuries.
