Good. Fuck these asshats who bring politics into the workplace. Whatever I think of Palestine or Israel, I don’t want to know what my coworkers think or be forced to publicly take sides in my workplace.
This does nothing but bring toxicity into the work place and poison relationships in a place where collaboration is key.
Go work on your causes on your own time.
>Both workers were members of a coalition of employees called “No Azure for Apartheid” that has opposed Microsoft’s sale of its cloud-computing technology to the Israeli government.
I would also fire them if I were in charge of this company.
Play stupid games, get fired.
Same shit happened with Google employees who were protesting their products being used by the US Government lol. Insane shit tbh.
Damn this sucks. These people were doing what they believed was right and it cost them their jobs, that’s incredibly brave. I hope that more people do protests/charities like this and we can see real change at companies like Microsoft.
I can basically guarantee you, they weren’t fired for a vigil. More like for publicly spreading antisemitism, harassing Jewish coworkers etc… AP is generally pro-palestine so of course they wouldn’t report on that, but i predict that if they try to claim this was a wrongful firing and press charges against Microsoft, a whole mess of bad shit they’ve said and done will be brought to light.
It kind of make sense though. They were publicly saying microsoft was responsible of genocide by association while still working there. If we go the same way until the end it would make them acomplice too.
Yes it’s bad to fire people for politics but they did organize what is essentially a protest movement on company property during work hours.
However: “Nasr said his firing was disclosed on social media by the watchdog group Stop Antisemitism more than an hour before he received the call from Microsoft. The group didn’t immediately respond Friday to a request for comment on how it learned about the firing.
The same group had months earlier called on Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to take action against Nasr for his public stances on Israel.”
The fact that there is another outside organization that seemingly had a role to play is highly unusual.
What a poor heartless action by Microsoft, they could have use so many other way of punishment beside firing them, and one of them is on visa, he must be gutted, I hope he get a new sponsor soon.
Protesting against Israel action in Gaza isn’t antisemitism and org like Stop Antisemitism are doing more harm than good.
>”But Microsoft really failed to have the space for us where we can come together and share our grief and honor the memories of people who can no longer speak for themselves.”
Since when is this Microsoft’s job? They’re a software company, not a psych clinic or support group.
