Translation:
The first Rheinmetall defense plant is already operational in Ukraine, with a second one on the way. The company is moving forward with plans to build a powder and ammunition factory.
Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger shared this in an exclusive interview with TSN’s correspondent, Oksana Tkachenko.
Papperger discussed the partnership with Ukraine’s defense industry:
“We have many great plans. The first plant is already operational. The Ukrainian defense industry is our partner. Currently, we have both a production and a service facility. By the end of the year, we will have our first state-of-the-art Lynx infantry fighting vehicle in Ukraine. Currently, we are servicing infantry fighting vehicles as well as main battle tanks. This is a very productive joint venture,” he said, adding that Rheinmetall owns 51% of this enterprise.
He mentioned that Rheinmetall is advancing on plans to build powder and ammunition factories in Ukraine.
“Thirdly, we want to establish air defense system production so that Ukraine can protect itself,” he added.
Papperger expressed satisfaction with the security measures for these facilities in Ukraine, highlighting a robust training program for local personnel. “I’m pleased that in some areas, we can move very quickly. Bureaucracy sometimes arises on both the German and Ukrainian sides, but everything ultimately works out,” he noted.
He also provided updates on the construction of four plants commissioned by Ukraine this year:
“Things are progressing. The first plant is ready, and the second is close. I am now pushing to accelerate everything because we don’t have time to waste.”
Explaining further, Papperger described the capacity of these plants:
“The capabilities will be substantial. Production Line #1 will focus on tanks. The powder and ammunition production facilities will support double or even triple output to NATO standards, which you currently lack due to outdated Soviet standards. These will represent outstanding future technologies, with production of artillery and tank ammunition. I can’t disclose more than that,” he concluded.
this is great news
As somebody invested in Rheinmetall and wanting Ukraine to get out of this with as much of a victory as is possible anymore, I hope the US election isnt going to turn these plants into scrap metal, or worse, russian assets.
Fuck yeah
In the private sector, Rheinmettal is, of course, partly due to its size, Ukraine’s most important supporter. Of course, hopes for profits are primarily responsible for this. But I believe that Rheinmetall’s decisions are often particularly daring and courageous and are often underpinned by very strong statements of support. I am impressed when a company that is primarily committed to its shareholders takes such risks and dangers to do the right thing.
I was thinking artillery shells and charges are higher in the priority list. But good news, thumbs up!
Well done Gemany, we need this in Lithuania too!
That was quick
This is impressive! Go Rheinmetall!
