I wonder how their election system works. Zelensky was voted in and he has the title of President. But how long does he serve? Are there term limits? Do we have an FDR situation where he will remain in power till the war is over, whenever that is?
So, like, in 10 years?
I’ve always had the impression that the dude is tired and done. He’s willing to continue and has done a frankly astounding job in a scenario that was once thought unthinkable. If he steps down it is highly likely that a pro Russian asset gets elected and everything was for naught.
Much like Churchill. Someone will have to lead them after the war for reconstruction.
What if the war goes on for 20 more years? The Korean war still hasn’t ended. There is a wide variation of outcomes where the war drags on for many more years without an official end.
How do you define the “end of the war”?
Those 10 years will be the most important of Ukraines bright new future. I really hope they re-elect him as much as he would hate that to establish the foundation of a brand new country.
Clear laws for corruption
rehabilitation
foreign investment safeguards
EU admittance
NATO
There’s literally so much at stake
