  5. Many years ago when I worked in co-op we had a guy do this every Sunday. Got to the point we had people watching the bakery section to catch him in the act.

  6. I was going to ask why they didn’t eat the whole thing, as that would actually be less bad.

    But then I remembered what Tesco doughnuts taste like, which made it more understandable.

  8. Fun Fact: Tesco bakery bread & a lot of cakes are all box frozen & just warmed up in the oven, they aren’t freshly made / baked

  22. These uncovered supermarket bakeries are vile. I haven’t been in a UK Lidl in a while so don’t know if it’s the same but the ones in France make it impossible to touch any bakery items unless you actually want them. I don’t know why we can’t do the same here.

    My first job out of school was working security, I was contracted to a grocery shop that had a salad bar next to the door and people used to come in and eat out of them using the serving spoons, repeated scoops too. No thanks

    This especially goes for office “bring and share” events. Those things on the table have likely been prepared by disgusting people, and fingered more than my wife whenever I’m out of town.

  32. Lidl has solved this problem. You can’t put it back once you take it out so you know that no-one else has touched what you take.

  33. As someone who works at a supermarket with a bakery, I never buy products from the bakery shelves, ever. Customers always seem baffled when I tell them off for rummaging through the products with their bare hands as well. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  35. Why is this a thing in some countries?? Unless it’s something you peel or wash, it needs to be wrapped or handed to you by an employee.

  38. Our costa machine got an overdue cleaning recently.
    It has regular cleaning daily buy deep clean not so often.
    There was Maggots in the coffee deposit at the back.

    Never having costa again.

  39. A grocery store I used to go to made really good fresh chili so I’d buy it often as a treat. One time I got it and when I was chewing it tasted funny, like cinnamon, and I had to keep chewing, I couldn’t swallow it. Turns out some jerk threw a wad of already chewed cinnamon gum the pot. Never got chili again. Seems like there’s always someone who ruins it for everybody else.
