NATO Response Force activated for first time

  1. Elements of 40,000 troops-large ‘Response Force’ has been activated by NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Tod Wolters. He has ordered the mobilization of land, air, sea and special operation forces from all allied nations. If deployed, these forces can act quickly in support of NATO countries in danger.

  2. Putin mentioning nukes seems like a cheap threat. As if NATO would spare Russians from the same misery… Personally i respect the British and especially the French whom have reacted accordingly. Just like in the critical moment of the past they supported Albanian people in WW2 and Kosovo war, i believe they will not abandon Ukrainian people.

  3. The question now becomes is risking a full blown war involving countries with most of the world’s nuclear weapons over a small piece of a non-NATO country worth it?

Another question to ask is are we willing to sacrifice our own men for a foreign country for nothing?

I’m not saying that the Ukraine shouldn’t be helped. I’m just saying that these are questions that should be answered.

The fact that NATO is dragging their feet in response to Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine does indicate that NATO are trying to answer these 2 questions.

I doubt that NATO will act to kick Russia out of Kiev and the Ukraine. I hope it all goes well for Ukraine in the end.

  4. Thry may not be able to intervene in Ukraine directly, but it will be NATO drawing a red line across the borders and marking Europe as defended.

Right now Latvia, Estonia etc are looking vunrable so rallying forces and showing the alliance can do its job is very important.

  5. >For the first time, Sweden and Finland have triggered the MSI format within NATO, which allows for an in-depth exchange of information with the defence alliance. Both Finland and Sweden, in view of the situation that has arisen regarding Ukraine and the Russian war of aggression and its impact on overall security, have requested that it be activated, which it has done through a specific decision within the North Atlantic Council (NAC)

    >”We make the decisions we want. We are independent, free nations and we make our own decisions.” – says the Swedish Minister of Defense Peter Hultqvist

Just in tonight on [DN](https://www.dn.se/sverige/sverige-aktiverar-fordjupat-natosamarbete/) after Maria Zakharova came out swinging today. Some rapprochements towards NATO seems to be in the making.
