Too many people are downplaying those sanctions. Of course, they won’t make Russia collapse ina day or two. Sanctions take time to take effect. Make no mistake, Russia’s economy is going to take a considerably hit in the long run – they’ll suffer. Even with a swift ban they would’ve still carried on with the conquest. I believe that swift ban would be more damaging to the EU in the long run.
I really hope the EU rethinks its energy policy. We should steer away from Russian gas. Feeding Russia with more money is too dangerous at this point.

real sanctions will be : international court for all leaders in Russia, including Putin; block “outside” DNS for Russia IP, stop all Google, Facebook, Amazon, and all big corporations ,… block (if possible) GPS signals over Russia, block Swift, block all russian bank accounts everywhere, no more Visa/MC/Amex,… and so on.
