Except the G7 countries, I don’t think other countries will sancti on Russia . After all, Russia is huge.
This is the world that we helped build. One where Russia is the dominant European power, and even the west is afraid to act due to fear for their own dependent economies.

I’m heartbroken, and at the same time it pains me more that there are far more powerful countries than mine who could if they had the will stand up to Russia, but don’t or can’t, but some of those countries are so powerful that there’s no good argument for not supporting Ukraine in any way they need to be supported. At the same time, I’m proud of the fact that some of my countrymen have voluntarily been fighting for Ukraine ever since Crimea annexation and while the number of those fighters are not enough to make a meaningful difference, nevertheless they represent far stronger bond with Ukraine than any western country has been able to demonstrate up until now, and I hope from the bottom of my heart that West will finally wake up and once and for all put Russia on its rightful place
I don’t blame Georgia for not taking the step, they’re probably within Moldova as they will probably be evaded soon

Its sad, but economic sanctions against Russia also negatively affect the countries that impose them.
As a Georgian im sorry that this happened. There are tens of thousands of Georgians protesting yesterday and it will happen again today. But i can see why Gharibashvili came to this conclusion. If west did not abandon us and did something to stop Russia the answer from Georgian politicians would be much different.

The only right thing to do would be to welcome Georgia into NATO ASAP before Putin can intervene. Putin’s delusional ambitions are far from satisfied. If Putin is allowed to keep invading further countries any semblance of international law will cease to exist.

Understandable, if the west won’t protect Ukraine it’s even less likely to protect Georgia.
They can’t really do anything, because they are alone in their fight against Russia, too.
+ Firstly, Georgia is in no position to issue any sanctions, let alone ones that can ever harm Russia (no such sanctions by Georgia exist)
+ There are other ways Georgia is helping Ukraine. Massive support of Georgians, who flooded streets to show their support.
+ Georgian legion is fighting in Ukraine now, and 12 of them died for Ukraine
+ Georgian parliament was the second parliament in the whole world to make resolution supporting Ukraine
+ Georgian businesses and civilians are hosting and feeding Ukrainians stuck in Georgia for free
+ 20% of Georgia is occupied by Russia, and this puts it in even more peculiar situations. In 2008, when Georgia tried to fight back, it cost them dearly, especially because they, much like Ukraine, were left alone to fend off Russians
If Russia were to turn around and ‘revisit’ Georgia, which it will, nobody will help Georgia anyways, so the government is trying to not make their situation worse.
You cannot compare Georgia with likes of Baltics, Italy, Germany, etc. in terms of issuing sanctions because Georgia doesn’t have power, any support to fall back on and it will cost them much more than others
They are afraid as hell. Because what happens to Ukraine could happen to them to.

I’m no foreign policy expert but I think this is a good stance for Georgia right now,
10 Years from now Ukraine will be a puppet under Russia’s sphere, and the title will be “Ukraine is not going to join sanctions against Russia” when Russia will invade other European countries.. sadly, Europe can’t even bother to help other Europeans from being taken over. the west is getting more incompetent by the day, and just isn’t trustworthy.
