Very unfortunate timing. But the strikes were planned several months ago (iirc, the vote for strike happened 5 months ago), and staging a strike in the UK requires a major effort due to hostile labour laws, so unfortunately I don’t think that rescheduling it was an option.
Suspend or even expel oligarchs’ children from western universities.
Are these government employees striking against the government? Good luck with that.
Just an fyi, the average salary of a University Vice Chancellor in the UK is now GBP 270,000 p/a, which has risen from roughly GBP 220,000 in 2011.
The average university worker has had a pay freeze since 2010. Equating to at least a 20% drop in their real term salary, and thats before the current cost of living and inflation crisis.
Food for thought.
Sadly this strike was planned for this date for a while and there’s more important stuff going on right now
who gives a fuck
For context, and I’ve attended Open University Courses, is that these strikes are not that uncommon.
“University Lecturers on Strike, Nobody Notices” or, more likely, “…Quality of Education Goes Up”.
