Surely it was worth it to suppress a virus for a couple of months
The Covid pandemic increased online shopping and out-of-town shopping, supermarkets, and retail parks are more popular than the high street.
A lot of people have moved to using rope, thus making chain stores redundant.
If it stops us importing crap from China and the like I’m all for it.
Even McDonald’s moved out of our shity city because the landlord increased their rent.
Stop being so greedy everyone.
Who’s caused this you have buying on line .still happening from fast food to . goods clothing . you fuel companies they will carry on . Go to ASDA more self service . why have staff when you are doing there work .
It kinda says a lot when the overall change in store numbers shows the increases are in takeaways and job centres and the closures are fashion and banking/finance… we’re so fucked
This is happening left right and center in Glasgow but do we really need two m and s, nexts and sport direct 15 walk away. No we don’t.
People want shops to be replaced by more shops but don’t actually shop in shops?
Also people blame the council but you can’t help that big companies with big shops like bhs and Debenhams going bust isn’t the councils fault
COVID just accelerated what was already happening as people moved online to shop, alongside councils doing all they could to fuck over the high street. We need more in the way of independent shops that offer a variety of products, as well as more in the way of experiences and entertainment, we cannot save the high street by trying to revive the dying chains that no one likes.
Most jobs in the country don’t pay enough this have been proven, shops are sellin things at a expensive price I can buy something cheaper on ebay for shoe’s for example.
Most small towns and poor and deprived, most of them are on 15k yearly and don’t earn enough to buy things in shops weekly.
