At 04:00 CET on 24/02/22 Russian military forces invaded the sovereign nation Ukraine.

As the situation unfolds, the modteam at r/Norway believes best practice would be to introduce a centralized thread for everyone to comment in instead of many individual threads. All posts related to this conflict will be directed to this post and will be locked/deleted.

For the most part, everyone in this community are well behaved and don’t tend to cause problems, but we would like to remind everyone to *keep it civil.* No calls for violence, no name calling, no hatred of any kind. Additionally, we anticipate some trolls might pop their heads in with the intention of causing trouble or disseminating misinformation. So we remind everyone of the reddit content policy and the rules of r/norway. The mod team will be removing any posts that violate any of these rules. Additionally, we ask that only verified reports are shared on this thread.

  2. Hoping everyone stays safe over there. I am from Seattle. My dad’s father was the son of Norwegian immigrants. My great-grandfather was from around Oslo area and my great-grandmother was from Sortland, Nordland. Hoping to visit one day. Definitely scary to see what’s unfolding over there. Sounds like Russia took control of Chernobyl. Which could be devastating for all over Europe if something goes wrong. Also it is the direct path to Kyiv 😥.

  4. So, how about we revisit that union right about now? Doesn’t feel good to be a minor power bordering Russia nowadays, and i bet Finland’s got it worse but I’d let them in too if only so they aren’t alone.

    There is a few things i don’t agree with the swedes and the Danes, but a combined military would make up for the primary issues where i disagree. You know, it’s safer together when the night comes
