  1. Lucky you put that circle round it or i’d have never found it.

  2. Call me boring but I hate these twee fucking around with names things.

Imagine your elderly aunt / cousin from Germany is coming to visit you on the train for the first time and now can’t see her destination on the board.

Can we just have public services that give the right information at the right time?

  3. East Croydon by any chance?

I’m such a curmudgeon but I can’t stand when they do this, it’s so twee and pointless. Especially when it’s to promote something like Halloween, which only seems to be celebrated because decades of American telly and other media have made us forget it was either not a thing at all or was traditionally celebrated very differently in the UK.

See also when they changed the actual roundels on Underground platforms. It’s hard enough to read the station sign as the train flies through if you’re crammed into someone’s armpit and can’t hear the announcements because you have headphones in to drown out the noise of the poorly-maintained track, don’t just add more confusion to the situation because some moron PR consultant told you it’s a nice idea.

  4. It’s not that clever or funny and is hopelessly confusing for anyone unfamiliar with the UK.

I like puns. This isn’t the place for them.

  5. Any foreign tourists are going to be fudged but it’s very funny 🤣

  6. Classic mix-up! You’d think they’d keep things consistent.

  7. It’s “funny” until you’re a tourist trying to get to Brighton and can’t find it on the departures board.

  8. I recognise that it’s East Croydon right? Shame I missed it

  9. Pack it up everyone, 2 redditors are here to tell you this isn’t actually funny

  10. They also update the sign to ‘Creepy Crawley’, which as a resident, I would say is fairly accurate.

  11. Bet that’s hilarious when there’s 5 minutes until your train and you’re desperately trying to work out which platform it’s on

  12. The perspective of this threw me off so much I thought it was a tiny display on a desk

  13. Yeah hilarious but can we keep the comedy off the route info boards? They’re bad enough at communicating information on a normal day and often the staff aren’t sure where trains are going

  14. Let’s be honest they should rename it that permanently 😂

  15. Do you have a copy of this picture without the white circle, please?

  16. A few for Yorkshire:

    – Bleeds
    – Shuddersfield
    – Hellifax
    – Horrorgate
    – Bradford

  17. Imagine being a foreign tourist trying to get to Brighton from London and not having a clue about this kind of humour lol.
