Hey guys. I'm in the town of Algeciras , Spain. Today , I finished cycling from Nordkapp , Norway to the end of Europe here. It's taken me 7 months.

This morning , someone stole my bicycle : a Marin Four Corners. I found street cops this morning and told them my bike was stolen but it felt pretty informal.

Does anyone have any advice for trying to find it? A used bike website or.. what usually happens to bicycles when their stolen? I'm in a port town too so I wonder if it would go abroad? I don't know.

Just trying out my options here. Thanks for any help.

Ralph.

  1. Sorry man, that sucks. If you get it back, it won’t be soon, unless you find it yourself. Go to the police station and file a report, just telling police in the street won’t do anything for you.

  2. That sucks man. It surely has a lot of emotional value for you. Try checking wallapop as someone told you or other websites/apps for second hand stuff. Best of luck!

  3. I would try to spread this photo of your bike across the place it was stolen. Hopefully people in the area could help you to recover your bike.

Try to share a post or photos in the local social networks, go to the townhall… I live in a small town and I’m sure that you will find friendly people that will try to share this

  4. Contact local bike shops that sell second hand and send them a photo of your bike. Also second hand shops in the area

  5. Better try looking for a used one. If you’re lucky the market might be flooded with cheap barely used bikes from people who got themselves an electrical one.

  6. I’m very sorry this happened to you. As other people have mentioned, the two big sites for selling something like this would be wallapop and milanuncios. Other than that I would check Cash Converters, they have some items for sale on their website but I would also check nearby physical stores, you can contact them and ask if anyone has brought in a bicycle that looks like yours, maybe ask them to be on the lookout.

If you manage to find it you will definitely need a police report to do anything. But I guess you will cross that bridge when you get there, don’t worry about that now. Again I’m very sorry, and best of luck!

  7. I know this isn’t helpful now, but there are many bike accessories that you can hide an air tag in.

Mine is hidden in my headlight.

  8. It just had to happen here. Im really sorry man your trip had to end this way, hope it doesn’t affect too much your opinion of our country. Good luck

  9. I’m so sorry you ended your visit to Spain this way. Unfortunately, it’s not surprising (my ex boyfriend got his bike stolen in Madrid… from the balcony of a third floor apartment). Even reporting it to the Police or Guardia Civil is not much use, but it might help you reclaim it if the bike gets sold in Wallapop (I’m not sure about how that works, though; glad others replied). Good luck.
