  1. Large portions of Argentinas sewage is not treated at all – it just goes straight into the rivers. 

    In the UK our sewage generally goes into the river because we wanted to save money by combining surface water and sewage drains into one pipe which overwhelms the sewage works everytime it rains

    Our rivers are still in a far better cindition than those in argentina

  3. The behaviour of the water companies is outright scandalous, but come on. Man that works for water company goes on holiday. Not the story they think it is.

  7. Big campaign needed! Align with Mr Sharkey! These tossers are earning big money …not for managing the water but scamming millions of people. I can’t fathom why the government are allowing this shit.

  8. So what would it need to upgrade the infrastructure to.to accommodate 90 million peoples shit ?and also for all water companies to agree to do this over the next few decades ?

    Because we have Victorian level infrastructure. They were smart enough to realise the population would grow and we are currently somewhere near 70 million and at breaking.

  9. The article fails to mention that the fines from OFWAT came from pollution incidents that occurred BEFORE he started at Thames Water (he started in January 2024). All the other incident statistics are from before he started. While Thames Water has a long way to go to redeem itself, it is unfair to pin its previous actions all on him.

    Besides, can’t a person regardless of their role enjoy time off? Ridiculous article to begin with…

  10. He’s done a bloody good job by delivering great returns for investors. That is his job and legal responsibility. Stop blaming the people who are doing what our government requires them to do and start blaming the government!
