**Multiple parts.**
Part 1 of 2
“Progressives can truly win in this election, even though we have a moderate Democrat on the ticket. And it’s not by voting for Jill Stein. But first, a little history…
Not long ago the entire upper Delaware River basin in Pennsylvania—one of the most beautiful areas in the country, in the watershed for New York City, southern New Jersey and Philadelphia—was on the chopping block for fracking.
A 75 mile stretch of the Delaware River could have become a toxic oil field. Fracking is an environmental apocalypse: millions of gallons of toxic fracking fluids, radioactive waste, underground water contamination, hundreds of thousands of truck trips, air pollution, land scarring, massive public health crises, and depleted water supply. Everything about the practice is toxic; it is inherently contaminating in the long and short term.
Our community was quick to understand the threat and organize and mobilize against it. Every little town along the Delaware across New York and Pennsylvania had a mom-and-pop anti-fracking group spring up. My film Gasland, on HBO, was part of this campaign, and our Gasland tours went from town to town, Johnny Appleseed–style, fostering our new movement.
Amazingly, we won. We banned fracking in the Delaware River basin and in New York State, saving the water supply for 16 million people. One of the greatest achievements of the environmental movement in this century.
We did this by convincing the Democratic governors of New York and Delaware and the president at the time—Barack Obama—to ban fracking here. These were all moderate Democrats. Not exactly Bernie Sanders, if you know what I mean.
Republicans would have just said no. This whole place would have been completely fracked to hell. We would have lost. And the whole gorgeous, life-giving national treasure of the Delaware River would have been a toxic fracking zone.
Our victory against fracking kept more carbon and methane in the ground than almost any other single environmental win in history—making it a huge win for the climate as well.”
**P.S. The most important part of the article, in “my” view**:
>Hundreds of thousands of people showed up to protect this place and to hold moderate Democrats accountable, and that was the key to victory here.
>**You know who didn’t show up for this place? Jill Stein. She doesn’t show up for these frontline battles. Ever.**
>Stein says she’s against fracking, but Stein has hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in the oil and gas industry. Did you know that? Did you know that she actually profits off of the oil and gas industry, that she has had investments in the Keystone XL pipeline and multiple fracking companies?
>Did you know that she has investments in Raytheon, that she’s had investments in ExxonMobil? Did you know that she has investments in Home Depot—one of the most rapacious companies in the world, guilty of horrific deforestation throughout the world?
>How is it that the Green Party candidate hasn’t divested her own personal fortune from fossil fuels? It’s sheer hypocrisy. And so is the strategy of running for president every four years but never showing up for battles like this.
>In 2016, Stein defended these investments by saying they are mutual funds and indexed retirement funds.
>But that, plainly speaking, is bunk.
>Her claims are a slap in the face to the entire fossil fuel divestment movement. It is easier now than ever to have investments that are fossil free; doing so is a huge plank of the environmental cause. Hundreds of real activists were arrested this summer in New York City calling for Citibank to divest as part of the Summer of Heat campaign. For Stein to ignore all this and still attempt to call herself an activist is beyond hypocrisy, it is political malpractice. Shame on you, Dr. Stein! Shame on you for profiting from fracking and oil drilling.

Who cares what she says? She’s a Russian puppet.
An environmentalist needs to vote for one of the two candidates with any chance of winning. Which is better for the environment, Trump or Harris? It’s as simple as that. Jill Stein could be the world’s best person but voting for her would be a complete waste in a tight election like we have. She’s a spoiler candidate.
I fell for her shit in 2016 and voted for her in NC. I’m sorry everyone. I learned from my mistake and voted blue in every election since.
We have two choices, one will completely ignore all environmental laws, eliminate the epa, and give free rein to big polluters. The other will strengthen environmental laws, work with other countries to reduce emissions. Seems like an easy decision for those who rank the environment as high priority
I’ll never vote Green again.
A person who shows up every four years asking for your trust and money isn’t a politician, it’s a deadbeat.
Jill is not a true leader of the Green Party she is a distraction and frankly dishonest about her personal interests. I wish the Green Party will replace her with a genuine leader and have a seat at the election in 2028
I was a “libertarian” Ron Paul supporter, though I’m in fact an anarchist.
I watched how his supporters were infiltrated and co-opted when the criminal types in the GOP figured out he had real support. This is best observed in the people who have surrounded him since, Rand Paul, and his topical opinions changing while his “core beliefs” are preserved to not arouse suspicions and maintain his “political capital”. He’s an OBGYN who would never have been antivax, and definitely would endorse Harris were he not so silo’d.
Stein is more RFKjr: willfully corrupt and not at all unwitting of her shill, but this implies the Green party and its apparatus, just like the LP, are mostly on a second payroll. Observe this year’s LP convention: spraytan was *invited by someone* – identity unpublished with no post mortem in the MSM – wherein the delegates booed him off stage. *Why* would the LP invite an obvious fascist to a room full of people who hate him?
Money, and the sin of vanity/popularity unsurprisingly.
It barely matters *where* the money comes from when the person is so flawed. Russia? China? Texas oil fascists? What matters is *the evidence*. Stein *should* withdraw as unviable, but observe RFKjr: when the leash offers power he is all in. It was *never* about his sincere values, and always about oligarchy and privilege. Vanity.
*Of course* the *evidence* will show she’s full of sh*t, and why the oligarchical will try hard to avoid publishing it.
It constantly disappoints me that we even need “green” parties. We’re about 20 years past the point where all parties should be green.
You’re not wrong! But even beyond the lucidity u/Silent-Resort-3076 shares, American Third Party votes are just wasted! I voted for Nader in 2000 and helped Gore lose the election. Now, Gore was in bed with Monsanto but I’d prefer him over Dippidy-Dubya… Wasted vote. Just like 2016- Hillary vs the Orange Buffoon? Wasted vote-I didn’t show up: They seemed two sides of an evil coin but BOY!, was I wrong!! And we got the worse of the two by FAR.
Bare and simple fact: This country ain’t set up for a Third Party. Bigger Truth: We ARE choosing the lesser of two evils each election.
Folks ask me, “Why Biden??? Obama said “Joe, don’t run!”” CUZ HE AIN’T TRUMP, the rapist/felon/conman/racist dog-whistler in bed with Putin and sexting dictators! Ol’ Sleepy is getting WAYYY more good shit done than Putins useful idiot ever did!
“Hey, why are you such a fan of Kamala??” “Cuz she ain’t the Dog-Whistler “guy” who made all the racists, haters, and wife-beaters out themselves! Though that was REALLY useful on a neighborhood level…
Lately, it just doesn’t matter who it is, I’m no fan! I’m just voting against the most evil bastard in the race.
Having said that, Jill Stein looks to be just as bad for our nation (and our environment) as RFK, Jr. And just as bad a distraction for votes that MATTER.
Until we can dump the fundamentally un-democratic Electoral College and make Ranked Choice Voting the law of the land for all elections, third parties are simply distractions. And, as shown in this election, deftly manipulated by the powerful (Oh, yeah- that Citizen United thing- that’s COMPLETELY UNDEMOCRATIC and needs to go, too) to maintain a status-quo of oligarchs, robber barons, and the rest of the One Percent in charge, while the rest of us grovel, scrape, and “gig economy” our way to some semblance of the “American Dream” that Boomers got close to but failed to pass on to the rest of us…
– Ranked Choice Voting
– Kill/reverse the Citizens United ruling (and if we REALLY mean it, move to publicly-funded campaigns
– Justice Department Certification of Clearance for EACH POTUS candidate, to include financial, civil, and criminal charges/history- we need to clear each candidate of any disqualifying previous charges, challenges, or misdeeds. And these should be VERY public hearings, Federal Prosecutors and Attorneys General conducting the things.
Impeached twice, inciting a riot, making personal/family profit off foreign diplomats and domestic Secret Service hotel stays and fees, the blatant racism, the pardoning of the crooks who abused our legal system to publish and push propaganda, sexual assault and rape, and even treasonous contact with one of our most dire enemies…
The fact that ALL THIS has not been disqualifying for the office of the POTUS is grounds to sunder this great Union!
Is THAT what he’s after??
Holy fuck
It’s even simpler than this. The Green Party ‘s existence has done more damage to the environment than it has helped. We are more of a right wing nation because of them. Bernie Sanders and AOC have done more to push Green legislation than the Green Party.
Nobody gets anything good by voting green. Sad, but true.
[Please don’t vote for Russian plant Jill Stein.](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-cldnry.s-nbcnews.com%2Fimage%2Fupload%2Ft_fit-1500w%2Cf_auto%2Cq_auto%3Abest%2Fnewscms%2F2017_51%2F1955941%2F170405-putin-flynn-dinner-jhc-1700.jpg&tbnid=BBgmEvBQiuBZuM&vet=1&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbcnews.com%2Fnews%2Fworld%2Fguess-who-came-dinner-flynn-putin-n742696&docid=AJrh7aC5rCvs5M&w=1500&h=1027&hl=en-us&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim%2Fm4%2F3&kgs=57df57bf1871223c&shem=abme%2Ctrie)
Here she is eating with Putin and Michael Flynn.
Stein is a shill. Everyone knows that. She doesn’t give a shit about the Middle East, the environment or human rights.
Jill Stein is not an environmentalist and she’s not interested in getting a third party into office, or making a third party viable. Maybe that was her goal at one point, but it sure as hell isn’t now. She is friends with Putin and is very likely in his pocket. Her goal now is to help Trump win. She is not a viable candidate and the Green party is not a viable party. She is, at best, a useful idiot for Putin and at worst a deliberate spoiler for the democratic party.
Forget just “throwing your vote away,” if you vote for Stein, you’re a goddamn idiot who can’t tell when someone is bullshitting them and doesn’t put any actual thought or research into the things they vote for. She is literally playing environmentalists for fools.
EDIT: Well, well well, RIGHT after I made this comment I saw that [her running mate is transphobic and seems to imply that a national abortion ban is on the table. ](https://www.advocate.com/election/jill-stein-running-mate-transphobia)
Don’t be a useful idiot. Help us stop digging this goddamn hole. Hold your nose if you must, but vote Harris. We can’t afford to let Trump back in office, even if we tell ourselves that we’re doing it on principal.
I’m registered Green forced to vote dem.
Voting 3rd party in a system that doesn’t allow preferential voting is a very poor choice.
When did this sub turn into right-wing liberal propaganda trash receptacle? Environmentalists don’t support fracking.
This is astroturfing, probably.
Jill Stein is a russian asset. She’s given money to run as a spoiler candidate by the enemies of America. She isn’t even subtle about it! It was obvious to me, and not because I’m special but because my foreign policy professor laid out some clear evidence she was, and 30 minutes of google proved it easily.
