Snow bothers the birds, because they cannot easily fly in such conditions
They chose a rather good place for waiting – lots of berries
If I recall correctly, there are some berries on Finnish trees that are too bitter to eat until the first frost. I don’t remember the details but I’m sure someone here does. 🙂
