  1. The one on the right is reborn shortly afterwards as German Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach.

  2. geez man the expression of the guy on the right strikes something in me. Visceral fear of death or something. He looks like a young dad who would take his kids to school and play with them on the playground.

    I hate war. Fuck

  3. Almost looks like a take from a movie in this colored state, when you turn it to bw it’s a bit more realistic, imho

  4. jaded, although somewhat anxious..so sad.. why cant we learn anything. fuck Putin

  5. Ok so rest of commentators here speaking about how russian bad while looking at finnish soldiers who fighted alongside with nazi german against ussr in a ww2? Are you mad? Maybe you even think that it’s ussr dropped nukes on japan? You should try to learn real history not propaganda

  6. That’s one for the photo album!

All have their eyes open, none look at the camera. Great shot!

  7. Of course Nazis and Nazi collaborators are being celebrated by this sub, nothing new. Also in 1944 it was not Russian artillery but Soviet(Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians and others).

  8. Seeing full colour photos of WW2 is always the same, somehow one of the few things that can make me shake
Might just because of how close WW2 is to my family

  9. The moment you realize you are about to lose your life and people close to you, while some rich kid father is profiting from his stocks in weapons companies.

As Paul Valéry said *”War, a massacre of people who do not know each other, for the benefit of people who know each other but do not massacre each other.”*

  10. Children doing this right now somewhere in Ukraine.

    Fuck russia.

  11. Is it customary to get ready for immediate grenade flinging during a shelling like the guy in the middle seems to be doing? I wasn’t taught anything about hunkering down in a covered dugout like this during my time in the military, we only had one shooting exercise in a trench but it wasn’t a shelling protection exercise at all. I’d think the enemy soldiers would be pretty far away during active shelling?

  12. Anyone else think the guy in the glasses looks like Radar from MASH?

  13. Have snaps of some of the men in my family with the suomi machine pistoli being pulled by reindeer. Very based men. (They are of course from talvisota)

  14. Was macht denn der Lauterbach da?

    Whats Lauterbach doing there?

  15. The people in these comments are brain dead. While siding with the nazis is bad no one in finland adopted their ideology the only reason for the alliance was for finland to gain territory back and to push back against the soviets. It was much more about national survival more than anything else and no one else was willing to help a small, worthless and a poor nation targeted by soviet aggression. History has shown that the only thing that scares the ussr/russia is power and nothing else. The world isnt as black and white as you think.

  16. Can any people say here something else about “bad Russia in WW2” than Poland invasion? No? German and USSR were such good friends, so Nazi killed about 26-28 million people from USSR, destroyed a lot of cities and villages but they are almost one and the same, because of Poland. Really? That’s the point? I just don’t get it. I did see any other things told here, than “Poland invasion”.

  17. Death….fear…. droped like a bomb in me.. ı hate war.

  18. how r/europe reacts to the opposite case and on a way smaller scale https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/s/hcyxenXfV4

r/europe is just filled with primarily eastern european revanchiststoo cozy with the brown ideology, the kind that says “nazi gentleman soldiers and soviet barbarians”
