  1. Of course they would. They get to open a new coal fired plant every week and we get handcuffed.

  2. Yeah, fat chance of that happening.

  3. I’m skeptical Harris will even do anything about climate change considering she hasn’t even published a policy plan and the election is tomorrow.

Trump gets in and the US climate goals are even more imaginary than they already are.

  4. As part of rejoining the Paris agreement, the Biden-Harris administration [committed](https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/04/22/fact-sheet-president-biden-sets-2030-greenhouse-gas-pollution-reduction-target-aimed-at-creating-good-paying-union-jobs-and-securing-u-s-leadership-on-clean-energy-technologies/) to a 50% to 52% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 levels by 2030. Participating nations [must set](https://climate.mit.edu/ask-mit/how-are-countries-held-accountable-under-paris-agreement) an emissions reduction pledge every five years; the next set of pledges are [scheduled for 2025](https://climate.mit.edu/explainers/paris-agreement).

If elected, Trump has [vowed](https://www.donaldjtrump.com/agenda47/agenda47-america-must-have-the-1-lowest-cost-energy-and-electricity-on-earth) in his Agenda 47 to leave the “horrendously unfair” Paris Agreement once again, and he has continued to refer to it as “[horribly](https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/transcript/donald-trump-speech-political-rally-mosinee-wisconsin-september-7-2024/#190) [unfair](https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/transcript/donald-trump-speech-economic-club-new-york-september-5-2024/#34),” “[ridiculous](https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/transcript/donald-trump-speech-campaign-rally-reno-nevada-october-11-2024/#166),” “[disastrous](https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/transcript/donald-trump-speech-campaign-rally-johnstown-pennsylvania-august-30-2024/#144)” or “[the most unfair document you’ve ever seen](https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/transcript/donald-trump-speech-campaign-rally-las-vegas-september-13-2024/#137).”

The inflation reduction act put 100’s of billion into reducing global warming.

I don’t think Harris can flaunt any spending on global warming as it would just feed the Republicans with ammunition against her once they had distorted the narrative.

There is no way Trump will do anything, he has basically given Big Oil free reign to drill drill drill…

  5. According to analysis published by the Rhodium group, *in 2019, for the first time since national greenhouse gas emissions have been measured, China’s annual emissions exceeded those of all developed countries combined. China’s emissions were less than a quarter of developed country emissions in 1990, but over the past three decades have more than tripled, reaching over 14 gigatons of CO2-equivalent in 2019.* So there’s that.
