  1. It is going to flutter up and down. Unless the SNP get their shit together, and thats going to take a stronger leader than what they have, it won’t go up to mid 2010s levels.

Ironically it could go back if either Labour really deliver and don’t fall into the same media traps the SNP did – or, if Scottish Labour distance themselves somehow.

The problem is spotting any mechanism that will cause these changes. Both Parties think what they are doing is working. What is really happening is that the opposition is worse.

  2. In the last 5 years we have had Brexit, Covid, a new war in Europe, and a massive cost of living crisis to name but a few things, who know what’s coming in the next 5 years so a bit early for a 2029 election prediction

  3. I will be genuinely amazed if the polls a couple of months after the general election are anything like the results at the next election!

  4. Sweeney is just your standard , safe pair of hands in troubled times , he’s not going to do anything sexy in terms of policies etc but he’ll get you to the next election.

As for voting Tory it’s an interesting one we have a young lad in the office (24) constantly chats about wealth etc and rocks up to work in the latest tk maxx offerings thinking he’s an absolute baller .. he’s on 28k

But he was talking about how he’ll be voting Tory as labour and SNP tax the rich …. Very odd bit seems to be an attempt to impress , a flex …. The equivalent of posting pics on instagram on a fake first class flight and a fake handbag ….. strange times

  5. Understandable. But fuck me the SNP have no ideological clarity nor a concrete and coherent political programme. Raggle tag group of folks who believe in independence sure, but very very little else in a material sense.

You can’t be a party of both landlords and tenants.

  6. I’m a pro indy guy and no fan of this form of neo Liberal labour but fuck me they have been 5 minutes in the door after 14 years of devastation. That’s going to take at least 30 to try and vaguely fix. It’s over

  7. The ones that surprise me the most are the stupid arseholes still voting tory.

We’ve seen how incompetent they are over the last 14 years, we’ve seen how poorly they handled brexit, covid, and pretty much every single major event since 2010.

Even the ones voting labour baffle me, we were told to read anas’s lips when he said there would be no more austerity, yet we’re facing more, and still people are willing to vote labour. They’re just tories wearing red

  8. Not an election for 5 years. This is just nationalist wishful thinking that Independence is just round the corner.

You need to do better. Shit like this is convincing no one. I am a centrist Labour voter, crap like this is NOT CONVINCING ME and you need my vote.

If the plan was to reintegrate into the EU, be a financial hub, attract inward investment, be the centre for English speaking Europe financial centre, siphon off business from London, diverge from the English bum fight which seems to be descending back into right wing autarkic anarchy, be in NATO, attract immigration from the failing areas of England, leverage our education with a proper funding model.

Drop the socialist LGBT nuclear free paradise and think legitimately about how you can win over centre voters and you will get the mandate.

  9. bit early like, but it’s amusing to see the Labour Surge utterly dissipate once the feverish Getting The Tories Out meant fundamentally replacing them with the same policies and people.

  10. Yeah but there isn’t going to be a GE for many many years so….:

  11. ‘How are you planning to vote in five years time?’ is a conspicuously stupid question.

  12. It’s at times like this that I miss the chutzpah and hyperbole of Scotland Goes Pop…

  13. Right now SNP have shat the bed, Tories have shat the bed and Labour are in the middle of shitting the bed. How any of them are able to turn it around in a meaningful way will be interesting. It doesn’t feel like anyone would win through being preferred, just the least disliked.

  14. SNP might not even get their budget passed and we could be heading to the polls very soon.
