Two suspects have been indicted in Poland for allegedly spying on behalf of Belarus, the Polish security services said Tuesday.

Nikolay M., a 53-year-old Belarus citizen, is accused of carrying out reconnaissance of military installations, as well as collecting information about transport infrastructure.

Bernard S., a 59-year-old Pole, is accused of aiding foreign intelligence services, according to a communique from Poland’s ABW internal security services.

The two suspects admitted their guilt, the statement said.

If convicted, they face at least five years in prison.

Several people of various nationalities have been arrested or convicted in Poland in recent months for acts of sabotage and espionage on behalf of Russia.  Poland is one of the main countries through which Western allies ship military equipment to Ukraine to help it fight off Russia’s invasion.
