Fears a Trump comeback could empower Serbian nationalists

1. Submission Statement: While I doubt Donald Trump himself cares very much about the Western Balkans, if at all, one man who does is his loyalist attack dog Richard Grennell, who has close ties to the Serbian government and Orban’s crew.

   Grennell attempted to negotiate a land swap between Serbia and Kosovo until Kosovo voters gave hardliner Kurti, who opposes such a swap, a landslide victory in the 2021 election. There are also concerns that if the administration is stacked with loyalists and ideologues, that Serbia, or the Bosnian Serbs, will receive no punishment for adventurism.

3. Trump’s return and the implementation of the announced moves have a destabilizing domino potential for the entire Balkan region. A support withdrawal from Ukraine will only strengthen the influence of Russian paraorganizations in the Republika Srpska and their overall attempt to destabilize the entire Balkans.
