Massive protests right now in northern Serbian city of Novi Sad after a canopy collapse killed 14 people last Friday. The canopy was rebuilt last year. The government is actively lying saying it WASN’t rebuilt (it definity was) and has not prosecuted anyone.

  1. When citizens of a country die because of the actions of the government, citizens have every right to protest and they have every right to condemn the actions of the government that are causing people to die.

  2. i sense a manipulation here – “wasn’t built” means a different thing from legal pov as it requires all formalities to be ticked which is worlds different from “didn’t exist”

  3. Terrible. Not at all surprising, looking at the actions and rethoric of the Serbian government. Hopefully Serbians will learn to not vote for right wing grifters, but I doubt it.

  4. It doesn’t even matter if it was renovated or not. It’s the governments fucking job to make sure that all public buildings are structurally sound

As a fellow European my condolences to the families that unfortunately face a terrible outcome 😔 My brother’s please fight in a peaceful way but fight nonetheless since this government and politics are literally fuckin the common Serbian citizen, and such a beautiful country with long history with good and bad it doesn’t deserve this in this current days.
