The Making of a New Government-Funded Moonshot Model

  1. I love how they’re using funds used during a state of emergency as a highlight of success of the system rather than being one of the few instances when public and private interests were completely aligned.

There was hardly any risk involved in producing a vaccine; we knew that eventually we’d be able to do it with our level of medical science; the finance aspect was more so to secure the dedication of those companies.

They also negate that many of the vaccine breakthroughs came from universities and public bodies working in tandem.

Maybe if Bloomberg paid attention to the wider aspects of the failings of covid in the UK they’d realise our government risked (and lost) billions through a failed test and trace system (that, as having worked for it, became worse and worse with LESS government oversight) that was banked on being the save all of the nation; numerous lost billions betting on PPE supplies to come through; and the countless billions we lose every year because of failed private:public dealings of the state.
